Dr. Herbert Forster *1946 +2020
Our friend Dr. Herbert Forster from Bergwacht Bayern passed away at the end of August 2020.
Herbert had been a long standing member of ICAR MedCom and a dear friend to many of us. Herbert contributed to much of our research work with many publications and co-authorships on the ICAR MedCom Recommendations.
He was a dedicated trauma surgeon with an incredible passion for emergency medicine which he carried on practicing until he fell ill in late winter this year. His love for the alpine sports, especially alpine skiing – he always raced down the slopes like a world cup contender – and rescue medicine made him the perfect medical leader of the Bavarian Mountain Rescue Service nearly quarter of a century.
Herbert passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
We are grateful for all the joy and fun, discussions and debates, hard work and long nights that we were allowed to share with Herbert.
Herbert, you will always be remembered and stay in our hearts .
